Children who are currently being treated at the Oxford Children’s Hospital, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, and the Great North Children’s Hospital have been gifted Christmas goody bags from Tom’s Trust, to bring festive joy to the children’s hospital wards this season.
The carefully crafted surprises were pulled together, and delivered to the children currently attending clinics, and those receiving treatment for a brain tumour on the wards, by our clinical psychology team.
The goody bags included: a festive teddy wearing a Santa hat, a hot water bottle sausage dog to keep the children nice and toasty, a range of festive sticker books for them to enjoy during their quieter time, a selection of engaging storybooks including a fond favourite, ‘Peppa Pig’, and a delicious sachet of instant hot chocolate. Alongside the interactive items, children also received a Christmas greeting card signed by each member of the Tom’s Trust team.
Rebecca Wood, CEO at Tom’s Trust, said: “We were very excited to deliver special Christmas gifts to brighten the festive season for the children and families we support. We would like to wish all the children and young people who are attending clinics and receiving treatment for brain tumours on the wards a very Merry Christmas.”
Dr Emily Townsend, Tom’s Trust clinical psychologist at Oxford Children’s Hospital, added: “We have loved being able to give out Christmas bags to young people and their siblings and spread some joy in the hospital! It is clear how much they have meant to children and their families at a time of year that can be difficult for many.”
