A number of children who are currently being treated across Alder Hey, Oxford and the Great North Children’s Hospitals have been busy designing Christmas cards for our annual competition. The team of judges were blown away with the creativity of the entries.
Our clinical psychologists support families facing a child’s brain tumour diagnosis across all three hospitals and this Christmas they invited all the children across their wards to take part and spread some cheer.
Our three winners
Edi, aged 12, chose to design a card of a snow globe holding a range of beautifully decorated trees, topped with a golden sleigh pulled along by reindeers. She is currently being supported by Tom’s Trust clinical psychologist Dr Emily Townsend in Oxford, who will continue to support her and her family’s needs despite it being four years post-diagnosis.
Sophia, aged four, brought the festivities forward with a fluffy reindeer drawing, paired with bright green and red feathers as antlers, a googly eye and a fluffy crimson button nose, decorated with a host of shiny stars. Sophia is currently being treated at Alder Hey hospital.
Albert, aged nine, designed a card with his trendy take on a cool Father Christmas, paired with glittery finishing touches and sunglasses. Albert was diagnosed with a brain tumour four years ago and has been supported by a Tom’s Trust clinical psychologist at Alder Hey.

A grandmother of a child being treated at Oxford Children’s Hospital, who took part in the competition, said: “The help you are giving my granddaughter is wonderful. For the first time on this family journey, there is someone there to support her mum. For that I am so very grateful. Thank you.”
Rebecca Wood, CEO at Tom’s Trust, said: “It was incredibly hard for our judges to choose the top three designs, the entries were all incredible and so festive. A huge congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to all the children who entered the competition.”
