Give in memory

Donate in memory

Thank you so much for considering donating to Tom’s Trust in memory of your loved one. Giving or fundraising in someone’s memory can be a touching and meaningful way to remember them. You can celebrate their life and commemorate them by donating in their memory, whether it is a one-off donation, a collection alongside family and friends or fundraising to help others in their name.

A gift in memory

Donating a gift in your loved one’s memory is a touching tribute to them and we thank you for thinking of the children and families who Tom’s Trust supports at such a difficult time. If you’d like to donate to Tom’s Trust or sign up to make a regular monthly donation in memory of your loved one, click on the donate button below.

A donation on a meaningful date

We know how upsetting and stressful it is to lose a loved one, so sometimes the right time is not just after you have lost someone. You may prefer to commemorate them on a significant day each year –  the anniversary of when you lost them, their birthday or your wedding anniversary. Whenever you wish to donate, we promise to use it to help the children who need us across the UK.

Donations in lieu of flowers

Well-wishers can donate to charity in lieu of sympathy cards and flowers or funeral flowers. Many of our supporters have expressed feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of flowers coming into their home and donating to a charity instead can be a simpler way to honour a loved one or let someone know you’re thinking of them.

Your friends and family can easily make a one-off donation in lieu of flowers through our donate page. Sometimes our supporters prefer to know exactly how much was raised in memory of their loved one, in which case you may wish to collect up all the money yourself before making a donation on our website or through a tribute page.

Funeral collections

You can collect funeral donations for Tom’s Trust in honour of your loved one. We’d be happy to provide collection envelopes for you to hand out at the funeral if people prefer to donate via cash or cheque. If there’s anything we at Tom’s Trust can do to make the collection easier for you, then please let us know.

To receive donation envelopes, or any other marketing materials (such as collection pots or leaflets), then do not hesitate to contact us. You can drop us an email at info@tomstrust.org.uk or call us on 01223 882738.

If your loved one’s funeral has been affected by the pandemic, you can still make a funeral collection online by setting up a tribute page, or signposting well-wishers to our donate page to make a one-off donation.

Tribute page

A tribute page is a wonderful way for family and friends to both leave condolence messages and share happy memories, while also supporting Tom’s Trust. Using a tribute page to encourage in-memory donations is also a lovely way for you and your family and friends to see how much has been raised in honour of your loved one. Through a tribute page, friends and family are also able to make a donation on special occasions throughout the year such as birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.

A tribute page is a great way to encourage larger donations through a fundraising target. For instance a £1,000 fundraising target would mean a child and up to three family members could be supported for an entire year by a Tom’s Trust psychologist. It’s a truly touching legacy to leave.

You can set up and personalise your loved one’s page within minutes. We recommend setting one up through our in memory page on JustGiving.

Remembrance fundraising challenges and events

If you’d like to take part in an event or complete a challenge to raise money for Tom’s Trust in someone’s memory, there are plenty of options to choose from. We have different events to suit both interests and ability, from 5km runs to marathons and tough mudder challenges. You can also host a Tea for Tom event or pick your own fundraising challenge. Whether you cycle, swim, walk or run to raise money for Tom’s Trust, there’s something for everyone to partake in to commemorate that special person.

Why not fundraise through the hobby your loved one enjoyed? If, for example, they were a keen cyclist, it might be the most fitting challenge for you, even if you’ve never done it before! We are more than happy to help put together some ideas with you as a fitting tribute. Get in touch on janice@tomstrust.org.uk

Host a fundraiser

Perhaps your loved one was a keen baker, or enjoyed cooking, or maybe they enjoyed arts and crafts? Why not gather a group of your loved ones and host an art afternoon with an art teacher, or compete in a virtual bake-off? People could donate in order to take part, and you can all have a lovely time while remembering that special person. Take a look at our fundraising page for inspiration.

Thank you
