Last Friday we held our third Newmarket Race Day and it raised almost £25,000. The money raised will support children facing a brain tumour diagnosis, and their families, with vital psychological care from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and into adulthood – either through our gold standard in-hospital support service or our online resources.

The successful event was held on Friday 16th May at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse, where guests were served a drinks reception, gourmet lunch and afternoon tea, while enjoying an afternoon of horse racing as well as a live and silent auction.

Kirsty Keegan, Head of Fundraising and Communications at Tom’s Trust, said: “Everyone had such a fantastic day, and it was wonderful to see everyone dressed up and enjoying the racing. We raised so much awareness for the work we do and the children we help, and we are over the moon to have raised such a huge amount throughout the day. We’d like to give a huge thanks to all the local business and people who made this event happen as well as our guests who were so generous.

“We are excited to expand the work we do across the UK, for so many children who desperately need support during such a difficult time in their lives. More than 500 children are diagnosed with a brain tumour in the UK each year, and we hope that one day we can support all of them, and importantly their families too.

“With thanks to Tattersalls Auctioneer Freddie McKibbin, who was once again hosting our live auction, and Michael O’Hagan our MC. A big thank you also goes to our wonderful Race Day tipster, Mark Richards, and to everyone who donated auction prizes, as well as to Langham Press for printing our beautiful event brochure.”
