Lewis Bateman, 22, from Gosforth in Newcastle, recently ran the Liverpool half marathon to raise funds for Tom’s Trust, this was after running the Great North Run last September for us.
Lewis currently works in retail after studying at university for his sports science degree. He is a massive Newcastle United fan and enjoys playing football for Chester Lee Street Town in the Ebac Northern League.
Lewis said: “I run for Toms trust as my best mates cousin Freddie, faced a brain tumour diagnosis. I am close to their whole family and wanted to help.”
He adds: “I chose to run the Liverpool half marathon as I really enjoyed running the Great North Run – I thought I’d try another one elsewhere as I’m often in Liverpool. The run itself was very difficult as I was unsure of the route. I’ve run the Great North Run twice now and both times hit near abouts the same time – which were good times for myself. The Great North Run is a mint atmosphere and everything about the whole thing is just amazing. Everyone putting themselves through that to raise money for charity’s close to them.”
What’s next for Lewis?
“I’ve got a few ideas in mind of what I would like to do next, maybe a full marathon or a sky dive for Tom’s Trust. Wait and see!”
