This Trustees’ Week, we are sharing the important work our trustees do.
A trustee oversees a charity’s strategy, ensures it fulfils its mission, manages funds responsibly, complies with laws, and acts in the charity’s best interests without personal gain. Our eight trustees provide their time and expertise voluntarily to Tom’s Trust, and we are incredibly grateful for the time and energy that they give.
Here’s what the Chair of our trustees, Andrew Woosey, had to say about his role:
“I chose to be a trustee at Tom’s Trust to bring my skills and experience gained in the private sector to a charitable cause that helps support people and their families in need, instead of corporate stakeholders.
My role as a charity trustee is to be part of a governing board responsible for the ultimate control and management of a charity, ensuring it operates legally, effectively, and making decisions to deliver the charity’s objectives for the public benefit.”
We’re so grateful for our trustees’ dedication and the expertise they bring.

Would you like to be a trustee? Get involved!
We’re looking for two new trustees to join our Trustee Board – one each from the Liverpool and Newcastle areas, where two of our services are based.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to children with brain tumours and their families.
All meetings are remote, so no travel necessary! As we expand from a regional to a national charity, we want our Trustee Board to reflect our growing reach.
We welcome passionate individuals who:
• Know and love their local area and want to help us grow our impact there.
• Can bring valuable contacts, fundraising ideas, and strategic thinking.
• Understand the role of charities and are committed to good governance.
• Want to collaborate with our team to make lasting change.
If you’re passionate about supporting children with brain tumours and want to help shape Tom’s Trust’s future, we’d love to hear from you!
